James Lowell Garrison

James “Jim” Lowell Garrison, 73, of Lockwood, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
Garrison was born on Feb. 21, 1948, in Lockwood to Lowell and Geraldine Garrison. He graduated from Lockwood High School, class of 1966. He continued his education at Missouri State University graduating with a degree in Accounting. Garrison financed his education by working at KOLR 10 in the news room support department. Upon graduation, he went to work for the US Government, Department of Army, in the position of compliance auditor. After several years with the Department of Army, he transferred to the Veteran Administration Compliance Division. He retired with 35 years of service. While employed with the Veterans Administration, Garrison was presented the Award for Valor, Office of Inspector General for rescuing a fellow auditor from being victimized in her hotel room.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carole Ann Abbiatti; great-great niece and nephew Tierney and Aiden Paul Abbiatti. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Paul Abbiatti, Lockwood; two nieces; and two nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services were held Thursday, Dec. 2,  at Lockwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Lockwood Youth Sports Program. Services are under the direction of the Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
