James M. Harris

James M. Harris, 91, of rural Aurora passed away March 23, 2019 at home with his wife and daughters by his side.
Harris was born June 9, 1927, to Wiley and Ruth (Garner) Harris. In 1951, he married Laura Helen Johnson; she survives.
Harris was a lifelong farmer; he was a milk hauler, laborer during the preparation of Table Rock Lake and dam, ran a sawmill, operated a feed mill in Aurora for Kent Feeds and was a U.S. Army veteran. James was well known for his love of gardening and sharing the produce with loved ones and friends. Depending on the season you visited, you went home with a variety of berries and/or vegetables; from strawberries to his wonderful tomatoes and if lucky his prize sweet potatoes.
Also surviving are: daughters, Meta (Auston) Sturgell of Aurora, Marilyn (Kevin) Chambers of Monett, Jean (Norman) Sturgell, Carol (Jerry) Craig, Anita (Mike) Carr all of Cassville, Amy (Tim) Jackson of Marshfield; siblings, Fanny, Janalee, Alice, Wayne and Wanda; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were: his parents; siblings, Mary, Elmer and Chloe; two grandsons; and one great granddaughter. Services were held at Peterson Funeral Chapel.
