James Smart (Jim)

James Smart (Jim) passed away Oct. 21, 2020, at his home.  He was born to Ben and Clara (Barton) Smart on Oct. 2, 1934.  He was one of 11 children and graduated from Marionville High School class of 1954.
On Aug. 5, 1953, he married Carrell Carver and served in the United States Air Force before returning home to raise their three children, Belinda, Randy and Cathy.
In 1958 he and Carrell established Smart Insurance Agency in downtown Marionville where the agency continues today.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marionville Lions Club, past president of the Marionville School Board and Ozarks Methodist Manor Board. He was a lifetime supporter of Marionville Schools.
He is survived by his wife; children, Belinda (Clyde) Jones, Randy (Gayle) Smart and Cathy (Alan) Joyner; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Hopkins and Berthena Wimberley and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Due to COVID, a private service will be held with military honors. Services are under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home in Marionville. Condolences may be sent to PO Box 236, Marionville, MO 65705. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Marionville.
