Jerry Sebastian

Jerry Sebastian, 84, of Monett, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, while at Oak Pointe of Monett.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1937 to Carl and Glenda (Mills) Sebastian in Libertyville. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He spent many years in the banking business as president of UMB in Monett, as well as serving on the board of directors at Community National Bank in Monett. He was a graduate of The School of Banking in Madison, Wis. and served on several boards, including the St. Vincent and Cox Monett Hospital and MIDC Industrial Development. He was a past member of the American Institute of Banking and past president of the Bank Administration Institute of SW Missouri. He was a member of the Monett Chamber of Commerce in which he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. He also received an Outstanding Jaycee President Award and was a part of many civic organizations.
Sebastian was preceded in death by his brother Jack and sister-in-law Diane Sebastian, as well as sister -in-laws Celeste Williams and Diane Naeger, and a grandson-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Susan and  three children, Mark (Stacy), Sara (Joe) Lay, and Chris (Tina) all of Monett. He is also survived by his sister Joan Turnbeau of Springfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Buchanan Funeral Home. The family will have a private family graveside service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Memory Care Unit at Oak Pointe of Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
