Jewell Shephard

Jewell Shephard, 82, of Freistatt passed away Sept. 25, 2018, while staying at Mt. Vernon Place Care in Mt. Vernon. She was born in Avard, Okla. June 25, 1936, to the late Benjamin and Onnie Haskell (Gourley) Murray. She was married in1955, to Cecil Shephard; he survives.
She was the former post master in Avard, Okla. and a caregiver for Home Health Care before she retired. She was also a member of the Avard Christian Church and a member of the Rebecca Circle.
Shephard is survived by her husband, Cecil; daughters, Gayle (Larry) Lawrence of Mt. Vernon and Cherry (Otis) of Stotts City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sept. 29, 2018, at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services followed at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial followed services at the Sycamore Cemetery near Miller. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
