JOHN HARRISON CRYER, JR.

John Harrison Cryer, Jr., age 95, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Cox Hospital in Monett, Missouri. He was born March 16, 1929, in Dimmitt, Texas; the son of John Harrison and Ary Elvira (McMinn) Cryer, Sr.
John was a United State Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Local l78 and worked at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon for 15 years. He attended Church in Action in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
John was a man of great faith and loved his family dearly. He had a smile that would light up a room, along with words of encouragement and appreciation for others.
On August 31, 1950, he married Nancy Rebecca Trauber, in Midland, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 10, 1985. On February 1, 1986, he married Patricia Jean (Merrick) Cameron in Miller, Missouri.
John is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Patricia; seven children: Jan Kociencki and her husband, Ray, John Cryer and Cindy Schroeder, Mark Cryer and Connie White, Julie Faucett and her husband, Mark, Tim Cameron and his wife, Shawnette, David Cameron, and Sandra Schoen and her husband, Marcus; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends,
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ary; his first wife, Nancy; two brothers, Marvin and Dale Cryer and one granddaughter, Megan Taylor.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Emergency Children’s Service, in care of the funeral home.
