Joyce Ann Tracy

Joyce Ann Tracy, 77, of Marionville passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her home. She was born June 4, 1944, in Canton, S.D., the daughter of Oscar and Gertrude (Mulder) DeVries.
She was a 1962 graduate of West Lyon High School in Inwood, Iowa. She taught with a two-year certificate out of Dort College and taught at Sioux Falls Hilltop Christian, the very first year it was opened. Hilltop grew into Sioux Falls Christian, which is now a large high school. She later went to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. graduating with a bachelor of arts degree. She went on to teach kindergarten in many schools in the United States.
On June 6, 1972, she married John Tracy in Inwood, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John; one daughter, Jill Bettinger (Murlin), of Marionville; one brother, Oscar DeVries (Lori), of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Arlene Kooistra of Hills, Minn.; sister-in-law, Linda DeVries of Alvord, Iowa and five grandchildren.
Tracy was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Gertrude; sister, Gertrude; brother, David DeVries and three brothers-in-law, John Kooistra, Abe VanRoekel and Arie Kiel.
A funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora. Burial followed at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery in Marionville. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in the funeral home chapel.
