Joyce Elaine (Burrell) Chapman

Joyce Elaine (Burrell) Chapman, 69, of Springfield passed away on May 18, 2026. She was born June 30, 1956 in Grinnell, Iowa

to Francis and Eugenia (Rosser) Burrell. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1974. She then graduated from Southwest Baptist in Bolivar with a BA in sociology and religion, masters in sociology. She worked in 

human resources for Associated Wholesale Grocers and Mercy Hospital in Springfield. On a trip to England she 

met the love of her life Barry, they were married 20 years. 

Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donnie and Alan Burrell; and a sister Patricia Herford; two nephews Larry Herford and Donnie Burrell; two nieces Jennifer Gold and Jan Kaput.

She is survived by her husband Barry, her son Justin O'Dell, two granddaughters and sisters Sandy Roper of Ozark, Martha Findley of Clinton, and Nancy Gold of Springfield.

 There will be a celebration of life from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 28, 2026 at Nathanael Greene Park in the Japanese Strolling Garden Pavilion in Springfield.
