Juveniles break in to MV Middle School

On May 20, officers responded to the Mt. Vernon Middle School in reference to a break in. Officers found that someone had broken into the school through a door on the west side of the building that led to a large freezer. The door to the freezer was left open causing all the food inside to ruin.
Whoever broke into the school also took about $100 out of a lockbox that was in a desk outside of the freezer door. Surveillance video revealed two males running the halls of the school trying to gain entry to classrooms. They were also seen going into a locker room and taking a pair of headphones and a bag of chips. The suspects were later identified from the surveillance video as being two students of the middle school. The school estimated the value of ruined food was $1,728.
