Kenny Dean Smith

Kenny Dean Smith, 78, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on Jan. 28, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by Jeanne Smith (Morrison), whom he married on Sept. 1, 1967. Their marriage of 58 years was a testament to commitment and devotion. Also surviving him are his three daughters, Terri Wright (Christopher), of Madison, Ala., Kristi Pelletier (David), of Wesley Chapel, N.C. and Penni Gryder (Brian) of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Matthews for 40 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Abundant Life Class at First Baptist Church of Matthews, 185 S. Trade ST, Matthews N.C.
