Leo Faucett

Leo Faucett, age 86, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020, at his home.  He was born January 29, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Otis and Zelma (Hastings) Faucett.
Leo was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School.  He retired as a conductor for the Frisco-Burlington Northern Railroad after 35 years.  He was a local businessman who cherished spending time with his family whom he loved very much.  He enjoyed playing bridge and golf with friends and coaching his son’s baseball teams.  He spent many hours working on his farm enjoying his cattle.  He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling and never met a stranger.
Leo was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
On August 18, 1955, he married Joan Johnston in Jefferson City, Missouri and they shared 65 years together.
Leo is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Bruce Faucett and his wife, Rhonda, of Columbia, Missouri and Mark Faucett and his wife, Julie, of Montrose, Colorado; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and  cousins.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Zelma, son, Bryan, and four brothers, Kenneth, Glenn, Ray and Harry Faucett.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to Hospice Compassus, in care of the funeral home.
