Louise Julia Veith

Louise Julia Veith, 96, of Monett, passed away June 15, at Lacoba Homes. She was born Sept. 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Frederick and Erna (Lindauer) Weihe. She was united in marriage to Arhart August Veith in Sept. 4, 1947, in Mt. Vernon. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and received her registered nursing degree from St.John’s Hospital in Springfield. After graduating, she worked at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and later at the Monett St. Vincent’s Hospital (now Cox), and as the school nurse for the Monett Elementary, Middle and High Schools. She was involved in First United Methodist Church of Monett, her children’s PTA, the Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and Loaves and Fishes.
She is survived by: daughters, Helen (George) Tauchen of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Marilyn (Charles) Lederer of Prairie Village, Kan.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Grace Eads; brothers, Roy (Georgia) Weihe, Leland (Sandy) Weihe; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sister, Ruth Langston; brothers, Fred, Maurice and Carl Weihe; and granddaughter Amelia Tauchen Marguet.
Graveside services were held in the Zion Cemetery north of Monett June 22, 2020. The Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home held open visitation June 21,2020. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Monett High School Veith College Scholarship for students in the health sciences. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
