Lucille Edna Avondet

Lucille Edna Avondet, 95, passed away June 23, 2020 while at Lacoba Homes of Monett.
She was born May 7, 1925 in Verona,  to Alfred A. Anderson and Mary Catherine (Schirmer) Anderson. She was a graduate of Monett High School and Monett Junior College. After graduation, she was employed at Gillioz Bank of Monett. She was a member of Waldensian Presbyterian Church and served as church treasurer for 25 years, an elder and a deacon, with her latest office being the treasurer for the Waldensian Cemetery board leaving that position in 2018. She served the local American Red Cross as treasurer for 25 years.
In 1945 in Galena, Kan., she married Edward H. Avondet. He preceded her in death in 2003. Through the years, she worked as a farmer and a bookkeeper for the family farm.  
She is survived by: son, Don (Brucene) Avondet of Joplin; son, Doug Avondet of Monett; daughter, Debra Rhea of Kearney; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;  and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Mary; son, Terry Edward; and son-in-law, Alan Rhea.
A memorial service was held June 29, 2020 at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. Memorials are suggested to the Waldensian Cemetery Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
