Margaret Catherine DeMott

Margaret Catherine DeMott, 93, of Bentonville, Ark., formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at the Bradford House Nursing and Rehab in Bentonville. She was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Henry and Audie (Miller) Johnson.
DeMott was an auditor and file clerk for Western Auto Supply Company in Kansas City, Mo. and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
On April 9, 1950, she married Paul William DeMott in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2004.
DeMott is survived by her daughter, Sharon Stirewalt (Kenny), of Nixa; two sons, Thomas DeMott (Karan), of Lowell, Ark. and Daniel DeMott of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Harold Johnson (Sandra), of Overland Park, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
DeMott was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Audie; her husband, Paul; one brother, Howard Johnson and two sisters, Thelma Schmutz and Eva Mullin.
A visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
