Marvin Clayton

Marvin Clayton, 75, of Purdy, passed away Sept. 18, 2018. He was born March 17, 1943, to Loyd and Rosie (Childress) at the family farm in Purdy. He was a lifelong resident of Purdy where he raised cattle and worked on the farm. He was married to Loretta Boyd, she preceded him in death in 2007. Clayton loved to work and was always busy. He was a very well-known logger who had a reputation for always treating people fairly and leaving a job well done. He also enjoyed cooking, had an outstanding garden.
Survivors include: daughter Stella (Eathen) Allen, of Stella; brothers, J.D. Johnson of Joplin, Wayne Clayton, of Purdy, and Jerry Clayton of Youngstown, Fla.; sisters Linda Day and Janie Roberts, both of Corinth, Miss.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: son Gregory Allen Clayton; daughter Robin Clayton; brother Cecil Clayton; and sisters Carolyn Dorsey, Marcine Shockley, and Ruby Holland.
Graveside services were held Sept. 22, 2018, at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research in memory of Marvin and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625. Service arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory in Cassville.
