Mary Salchow

Mary “Virginia” Salchow, 98, Springfield, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, in her home with family by her side. She was born to Frank and Pearl Gray Stark and was raised in the Billings/Marionville area. She had three brothers, two who have preceded her in death, Gaylord and Frank, and one surviving brother, Charles of Republic.
After high school, she worked briefly in a government job in St. Louis, returned home, and married Raymond G. Salchow on March 19, 1948. From this union were five children: Rayetta F. Salchow, Becky J. Biglieni, Clara L. Salchow, Terri A. Shinn Salchow and Larry S. Salchow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years and her two daughters, Rayetta and Terri.
Salchow received Jesus Christ as her savior in her early 30’s, and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield.
Salchow leaves behind a legacy of six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter that preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Rev. Brian Richardson officiating.
