Melvin L. Moss

Melvin L. Moss, 79, Monett, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 202. 
 Moss was born on May 10, 1942 in Carthage, son of the late Oren and Irene (Lynn) Moss. He graduated from Purdy High School with the class of 1961. At the age of 12, Moss began working at his father’s grocery store, Moss Market. During his fifty years in the business, Moss also worked at Food Town and Econo Foods, eventually retiring from Moss Market.
 Moss is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Betty Moss, of the home; one son, Randy Moss (Glenda), of Bella Vista, Ariz.; four daughters, Rocksannia Alvarado  (David), of Joplin, Liz Stewart (Kevn), of Monett, Becky Brown, of Monett and Sarah Carr (Greg), of Springfield; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as a loving host of extended family and friends.
 Moss was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Russell Moss.
 Funeral services for Moss was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. David Keeling will be officiating. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
