Michael Lewis Schmidt

Michael “Mike” Lewis Schmidt, Monett, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021 at the age of 49.
Schmidt was born on Nov. 17, 1972, in Monett. He was the son to Leo and Janice Schmidt of Monett. He is survived by his daughter, Mallory, of Webb City and his son, Mitchell, of Cassville. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Melissa Russell. 
Also surviving Schmidt is his brother, Gary Schmidt (Tonni), of Warrensburg,  twin sister, Michelle Hunter (David Cochran) of Springfield, and brother, Tim Schmidt (Natalie), of Monett, four nieces and nephews. 
Schmidt is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Lewis and Mae Bertalotto, paternal grandparents Albert and Flora Schmidt, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He started his career in the Mercy Emergency Department in Cassville as an Emergency Room Technician. Lewis graduated in May of 2018 with an Associate of Science in Nursing from the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southwest Baptist University after earning an Associate of Arts Degree from Crowder College. Following his graduation, he was hired as a Registered Nurse in the Mercy Emergency Department.
Schmidt was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and graduated from Monett High School in 1991.
