Miller volleyball sweeps week, ahead big tests
Miller volleyball was back at it last week, downing three more opponents including two SWC foes Diamond and Ash Grove.
The week started with a 3-0 sweep over New Covenant Academy and it wasn’t close. Miller took the first set 25-19 before leaving no doubt with 25-14 and 25-8 set wins to down the Lady Trojans. Up next was a solid Diamond team. This one was not nearly as easy, but the Lady Cardinals won the opening set 25-14. Diamond responded with a 25-20 win to even up the match. Miller proved to be done playing games as they cruised to 25-13 and 25-18 wins in the third and fourth set to beat the Lady Wildcats. The week ended with a trip to Ash Grove and Miller left no doubt there, sweeping the Lady Pirates 25-12, 25-15 and 25-15.
Miller improves to an impressive 20-3-1 for the year and claimed the top seed for the Class 1 District 10 tournament coming up at the end of the month. They found out they will play the winner of No. 4 seed Billings and fifth seeded Lockwood. The team will be busy again this week with home match ups Tuesday and Thursday against 13-4-2 Marionville and 15-8-4 Stockton, before competing in the Sparta tournament Saturday.
