After what has been a very tough season for the Mt. Vernon Mt’neers, they seem to be playing their best ball when it matters most. They defeated Cassville, 56-35, last Tuesday and a very solid McDonald County squad, 70-57, Friday night. The win over Cassville proved to be big as Mt. Vernon ended up securing the 5-seed in a very good Class 4 District 12 tournament that tips off Monday in Seneca. The win over Cassville bumped the Wildcats down to the 7-seed and will have to take on the second-seeded Lamar Tigers.
The Mt’neers move to 7-17 after taking five of their last six contests with one final regular season showdown with the Seneca Indians for Senior Night, Thursday.

Lady Mt’Neers
The Lady Mt’neers have taken their last three games and six of their last nine after routing Buffalo, 48-30, Tuesday and McDonald County Thursday, 54-39, on Senior Night. The Lady Mt’neers used their run at the end of the season to secure the 2-seed in the district tournament. They will see 7-seed Monett at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Seneca.
The Lady Mt’neers sit at 13-10 as they traveled to East Newton Monday for the final regular season game before districts.
