Mt. Vernon school bus involved in collision

No serious injuries reported in crash near Hoberg Tuesday morning, students on way to Scott Tech
No serious injuries resulted during a traffic collision between a passenger vehicle and a Mt. Vernon school bus on the way to Monett’s Scott Regional Tech Center the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 20. Although details remain sparse, the vehicle, a late model Chevrolet Equinox was seemingly smashed from behind by the bus one mile south of Mt. Vernon at the intersection of H highway and Law. Co. 2140, the Hoberg exit. At press time, it remains unknown who was at fault.
Several emergency vehicles answered the call, as well as school officials. A communication distributed by Mt. Vernon School District Superintendent Christina West afterward assured parents that no students were seriously harmed.
“In strict accordance with our district and First Student safety protocols, emergency services were immediately contacted. Police and EMS arrived promptly at the scene,” the release said. “I am relieved to report that no serious injuries occurred. Every student on the bus, as well as the driver, was checked by medical personnel at the scene as a precautionary measure, and for those students affected, medical attention was given as necessary. … School administration and personnel were on-site to assist. The parents of all students involved in the incident have already been contacted directly. If you have not received a call from the school regarding this specific incident, your child was not involved.”
