Mt. Vernon city employees and teachers working in the Mt. Vernon School District will enjoy a new perk when they go to hit the links at the Mt. Vernon Golf Course. The Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen voted to give the teachers and city employees a 10-percent discount on a membership to the Mt. Vernon Golf Course, as well as a $1 discount for a game of nine holes or $2 discount for a game of 18 holes, during their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
In his report to the board, City Administrator Max Springer stated Mt. Vernon School District administrators requested the discount as part of an effort to get teachers more involved in the community. Springer requested the same for city employees. The board voted to approve discounts for both.
In other business, the board passed a resolution expressing support of the city’s application for funds through the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP); the resolution also authorized the submission of an application relating to the proposed Route 174 Sidewalk Improvements Project.
The board also passed an ordinance authorizing the execution of a master reimbursable utility agreement by and between the city and Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission regarding utility relocation and adjustments.
Finally, the board authorized a payment of $17,443.80  to A-Y-1 to complete and finalize their culvert projects for 2018.
