Norma D. Highley

Norma D. Highley, 85, of Webb City passed away on Saturday March 26, 2022.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1936, at the house of her parents, Claude and Pansy Webb in Ottawa County, Okla. She had lived in the Joplin/Webb City area since 1997. She retired from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 1996 after 20 years of service. She then attended the Class Act Cosmetology School in Joplin and received a Nail Technician degree. She opened “Norma’s Nails” in June 1998, and her business remained opened until the May 22, 2011 tornado destroyed both her home and her business. She then moved to Webb City.
Highley married Gene Highley on Dec. 14, 1990 in Miami, Okla. She is survived by her three sons and their families: Tom Conklin (Lisa) of Edmond, Okla.; Marty Conklin (Terri) of Joplin; Dan Conklin of Webb City. Grandchildren and their families: Casey Conklin (Angela) of Monett; Jacob Conklin (Jeep) of Joplin; Kimberlie Conklin of Alton; Brock Conklin of Joplin; Kate Treat ( Jon of Edmond), Oklahoma; Dylan Conklin (Jennifer) of Edmond, Okla.; Carly Conklin of Ada, Okla.; Josh Conklin (Lynsey) of Collinsville, Ill. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her children, Highley is survived by one sister, Barbara Frank (Richard) of Columbus, Kan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. The funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami, Okla.
