Ovie Gerald Pennington

Ovie Gerald Pennington, 93, of Sarcoxie, passed away Aug. 9, 2020 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Ames, Okla., son of the late Earnest and Angie (Gibson) Pennington. Upon leaving Sarcoxie High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy. In 1948, he married Muriel Dee Stirewalt. Together they shared 69 years until her passing in 2017. For many years he was a foreman for Juvenile Shoe in Sarcoxie.
Pennington is survived by: son, Duwayne (Cynthia) Pennington of Keller, Texas; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and sisters, Virginia Jasumback and Veta Seufert.
Funeral services were held Aug. 15, 2020 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie. Burial followed in Park Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation was held prior to the service.
