It was a big week for Mt. Vernon when it came to sending athletes to play at the next level. Seniors Faith Rycraft and Wyatt Cordray both signed their official letter of intent last week to participate collegiately.
Rycraft has been a member of the cheer squad for four years and will spend the next four just down the road cheering for the Missouri Southern Lions in Joplin.
Cordray will be taking his talents to Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Ind. The track and field star signed to compete for the Lions.
Last year, Mt. Vernon sent more than five athletes to play at the next level including the MIAA women’s basketball player of the year Lacy Stokes and AMC All-Freshman team selection Mason Ballay.
