Patricia R. King

Patricia R. King, 79, of Lockwood passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1942 in Greenfield to John Emmitt and Ruby Fern (Chappell) Christner. After graduating high school in Lockwood she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Missouri. King also received a Master of Science degree in family and child development from Kansas State University and a Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling from Central Missouri State University.
She began her work experience during seventh grade by assisting the lab technician at Lockwood Memorial Hospital. She also worked at the local drive-in restaurant her parents operated. She taught family and consumer sciences for 31 years in the North Kansas City School District. After retiring from teaching at the age of 53, she enjoyed international travel.
King was preceded in death by her husband, Horton “Junior” King; one son, Christopher King; and her parents, John and Ruby Christner.
She is survived by one son, John King (Debbie) of Platte Woods; three grandsons; one sister, Elaine Kaelke of Lockwood; one brother, John Keith Christner of Temple, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Bona Cemetery. Donations may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 14411 NE Englewood Rd., Kansas City, MO 64118, the Lockwood United Methodist Church, or to the donor’s choice. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
