Richard Lewis Weldin, Sr.

Richard Lewis Weldin, Sr., 85, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Springfield the son of William and Juanita (Locke) Weldin.
He was a 1954 graduate of Camarillo High School in Camarillo, Calif. and was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a lineman for the city of Mt. Vernon.
On Oct. 14, 1961, he married Peggy Joyce Goldsworthy in El Rio, Calif.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy; one daughter, Lorna Lanphier (Mike) of Republic; his son, Richard Lewis Weldin, Jr. (Carol) of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren; a great-grandson and a brother, George Weldin of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William, and Juanita; one sister, Barbara Beall and five brothers, William, Donald, Kenneth, John, and Paul Weldin.
A private burial will be held at Mt. Vernon City Cemetery under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
