Rodney Lee Mabe, Sr.

Rodney Lee Mabe, Sr., 74, of Aurora, passed away Aug. 18, 2019, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born May 24, 1945, in Princeton, Ind. to Homer and Mary (Richards) Mabe.
Mabe was a 1964 graduate of Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Ind. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era and a retired welder from Tom Williams Machine in Aurora.
Mabe was such an arborist and loved his trees. He had always said “I could solve all the world’s problems when I’m on my lawnmower”. In 2002, he married Debra Evans, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mabe is survived by: his wife of 16 years, Debra; daughter, Jamie (Dale) Huryta of Ravenna, Neb.; son, Jimmy Mabe of Evansville, Ind.; four grandchildren; and brother, Charles (Chip) Flack, Jr. of Redlands, Calif. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Homer and Mary; two step-fathers, Charles Flack, Sr. and Albert Peterson; and son, Rodney Mabe, Jr.
A funeral service was held Aug. 22, 2019, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial followed at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Online condolences may be shared at www.CraftonCantrellFuneralHome.com.
