Shawn Newton

Shawn “Fig” Newton, 51, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.
Newton was born May 12, 1970, in Sedalia, to William “Tim” and Linda (Erven) Newton.
Newton attended Ash Grove schools from K-12 and attended Missouri Southern State College for a short time. He spent the majority of his working years in the construction industry, primarily concrete. 
He was a talented singer, songwriter and drummer; in the late 1990s he cut a rock/blues album with his band the Blues Alley Crawlers.
Newton is survived by his mother Linda Newton; sister Charity Elmer and husband Paul; nephews, Max and Mason; and half brothers, Cord Newton and Brad Darby; along with many other family members and friends. 
Newton was preceded in death by his father, William “Tim” Newton.
Celebration of life services will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March  2, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. A time of visitation will follow until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
