Shirley J. Clayton

Shirley J. Clayton, 81, Winter Park, Fla., formerly of Sarcoxie passed away Nov. 1, 2019 after a three-week struggle with pneumonia. She was born June 1, 1938 in Stotts City. Her father was Hershel Onis Batson and her mother was Eula Viola Stigall of Stotts City.
Clayton lived and attended church in southwest Missouri most of her life. She retired from the restaurant business after many years working as a waitress and a manager. She owned and operated the restaurant Shirley’s Place.
She married Kenneth L. Oakes in 1955. She married Carl V. Clayton October 10, 1975. Both preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth H. Oakes and Thell Oakes, both of Hogeye, Ark. and Terrance Oakes; daughters, Rebecca Legg, Winter Park, Fla. and Francine Williams, Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held May 18, 2021 at Moore Cemetery, west of Stotts City. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie.
