Spirow Nicholaw

Spirow Nicholaw, 95, passed away in Monett, Jan. 2, 2022. Nicholaw was born near Cannery Row in Monterey, Calif. in 1926 to Constantine and Anna Nicholaw. He graduated from Salinas High School, Hartnell College, and San Jose State. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific on two aircraft carriers, the Commencement Bay in WWII and the Bairoko during the Korean War. Upon his return, he worked as a draftsman and civil engineer until his retirement.
In 1981, Nicholaw married Connie.
Nicholaw is preceded in death by his parents, his son David and brothers George and Andy. He leaves behind his wife, Connie Nicholaw of Monett; daughter Melissa Nicholaw of Chico, Calif.; stepson David LaNore (Heidi) of Pierce City; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister Elaine Kontaxis of Oregon.
Visitation for Nicholaw was held from 6-7 p.m. on Friday Jan. 7, 2022 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services with Military Honors were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 8, 2022 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
Nicholaw will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, with memorial donations going to New Site Baptist Church in Monett.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
