Una Marie Henderson

Una Marie Henderson, 89, of Jenkins, passed away June 29, 2020 at her home. She was born March 10, 1931, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Sam D. Hudson and Gertrude (Hare) Hudson.
She grew up on a farm in Fort Scott, Kan. She attended nine different grade schools but attended all four years of high school in Fort Scott, Kan. graduating class of 1949. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cassville. She was a local and long-distance operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fort Scott, Kan. then transferring to Wichita, Kan. from 1949-1960. She then worked for the Juvenile Shoe Corp of Aurora from 1960 -1967. Then for 27 years she was the area supervisor of Barry County for Ozarks Area Community Action Cooperation (OACAC). During the time at OACAC, she was successful in initiating Head Start, Oats Bus, Family Planning and Adult Basic Education (GED). She was also a Sunday School teacher, 4-H instructor and Barry County Youth Camp member for many years.
She was united in marriage to Don A. Henderson in 1953; who survives. Also surviving are: son, Gary Don (Laurie) Henderson of Shell Knob; daughter, Susan Fay (Bob) Garrison of Cassville; sister, Leta Faye Hite of Aurora; five grandchildren of Republic; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are: her parents; and brother, Charles (Stella) Hudson of Springfield and one much loved brother-in-law, Richard Hite of Aurora.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 Clio Cemetery in Jenkins. Social distancing is requested by the family.
