Virgil Wayne Riddlesperger

Virgil Wayne Riddlesperger, 81, of Springfield, formerly of Verona, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, at Ravenwood Senior Living, in Springfield. He was born March 16, 1944, in Harrison, Ark., the son of Ray and Agnes Mae (Terherst) Riddlesperger.
He was a truck driver and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
On Sept. 21, 1963, he married Helen Jean Boyett, in Arcata, Calif. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1998.
He is survived by his son, Doug Riddlesperger and his wife Tandra, of Springfield; two daughters, Melanie Hicks and her husband Ron, of White Cloud, Mich. and Misty Willet and her husband Chris, of Goodman; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vancil (Linda) Riddlesperger and Dencil Riddlesperger, all of Berryville, Ark.; two sisters, Melissa Rosel Boatright, of Green Forest, Ark. and Hazel (Bob) Scroggins, of Roseburg, Ore.; sister-in-law Debbie Burton, of Sparks, Nev.; brother-in-law Lawrence Harvey, of Fortuna, Calif.  and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Agnes; his wife Helen; one brother, Ronald Riddlesperger and one sister, Rachel Curtis.
A burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.
