Jimmy Novak, center, a 21-year veteran of the United States Army, is walking across the country at the pace of 22 miles per day to draw attention to the fact that an average of 22 veterans a day commit suicide due to PTSD. Novak began his trek on March 22 of this year in Dupont, Wash., and plans to hike to Orlando, Fla., by Aug. 22. By the time he’s completed his journey, Novak will have walked more than 3,000 miles.
