WINNAFRED “WINNIE” L. CUMMONS

Winnafred “Winnie” L. Cummons, 95, of Perry, Fla. passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was born in North Dakota on July 18, 1930; the daughter of Richard and Marie Haddock Cummons.
Nicknames were common in her family, where she was known as Boots.
Her family returned home to Cassville in 1930, and she lived there until her teens. Later, she lived in Bay City, Mich., Milwaukee, Wis., and Perry, Fla. She attended school in Cassville and Mt. Vernon. She owned and operated a health food store for many years and achieved credentials in Nutrition Management. She also worked in a variety of roles, including: waitress, hostess, leasing management, fashion modeling, retail, and housekeeping. She also worked side by side with her husbands in a variety of small business ventures.
She is survived by her sons, Ritch (Lois) Cushway of Saline, Mich., and Warren Steven Cushway of Bay City, Mich.; daughter, Erika Binter (Hugh) Hale of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; brother, Don “Sonny” Cummons; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Warren Cushway and William “Bill” Binter; two sisters, Georgia “Georgie” Preddy and Frankie Bristow; and three brothers: Clarence “Chris” Cummons, Ray “Obie” Cummons, and Charles Lawmaster.
Graveside services, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball conducted the service.
