Completion of Market Street delayed

Infrastructure project end date pushed back by weather, flooding
The repairs on Mt. Vernon’s downtown Market Street, near Gibbs Park, were originally scheduled to be completed by Aug. 23. However, severe weather events, like the rains and subsequent flooding in June, has caused delays, which will move the completion date back.
“It has slowed work, (and) may add a couple of weeks to the project,” Max Springer, Mt. Vernon city administrator, said, adding the original completion date would be adjusted to allow for work time lost due to the weather. So far, $220,689.39 has been spent on the project. (Photo by Steve Chapman)
