Aurora to replace some sewer lines

The Aurora City Council authorized City Manager Jon Holmes to enter into a contract with United Plumbing and DeLong Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for services to repair the private side of infiltration and inflow, at their July 23 meeting.
A second resolution authorized Holmes to execute a bid award for the McNatt Avenue Sewer Replacement. Holmes said the project is part of the infiltration and inflow of the city’s collection system throughout the city. He said the bid was taken when camera work was done in that section of the sewer system, and the section was bad enough it needed to be replaced instead of being given a new sewer lining. He also told the council there was sufficient funding for the repair.
The next two resolutions approved by the council reappointed Steve Kahre and Marcia Sadler both to four-year terms as members of the Aurora Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees.
The final resolution authorized Mayor Doyle Ferguson to enter into a contract with the Aurora R-8 School District for a school resource officer. Holmes told the council it was a yearly contract the city enters into with the district to share the funding for a school resource officer.
In other business, Holmes reported that street mosquito spraying was ongoing, but there was some trouble with the machine, which is a 1973 model. He also reported Blevins Asphalt was scheduled to begin in two weeks, and the street staff are doing prep work to prepare for the paving. He also announced the pool’s last day to be open would be Sunday, Aug. 11.
