Debra Ann Biellier

Debra Ann Biellier, age 64, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away peacefully, July 24, 2020, at home, following a ten-year battle with early onset Familial Alzheimer Disease (eFAD).  She was born September 29, 1955, in Aurora, Missouri to Esco and Daisy (White) Elmer.
On December 30, 1978, she married Douglas Wayne Biellier, her lifelong companion, best friend, and then caretaker through almost 42 years of marriage.
Debra loved the Lord and she loved Christian music.  Contemporary, gospel, and church hymns; but especially church music.  A self-taught piano player, she could lead a worship service, play the keyboard, coordinate a children’s music program, and lead congregational singing at the drop of a hat.
Debra also loved to read when she wasn’t playing or listening to music.  She loved reading bible study books, theology, and anything that brought her closer to God’s word.  All of her bibles are filled with her highlights and handwriting up and down the margins.
She attended Evangel College followed by Burge School of Nursing at Cox Medical Center where she graduated in 1976 with her Registered Nursing (RN) license.  Her servant’s heart led her to work at several different hospitals and facilities across southern Missouri.  She always seemed to rise to a position of leadership or management, where she loved to mentor the younger generation of nurses.  In 2010 she retired from the Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon.
One of her crowning achievements in life was raising her family with Douglas here in Mount Vernon.  And she was most definitely proud and often bragged about her grandson, Maxwell, and her granddaughter Stella.  Prior to getting sick, she could be found building living room forts with the kids, taking them out to the farm to fish and play, and giving them lots of hugs and kisses.
She also shared a love of food and feeding others with her famous Grammy eggs that her grandkids loved, and her Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole enjoyed by her favorite son-in-law, Rhett.
Her life was a living example of the bible verse, Psalm 100: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”  Debra loved to sing.  She could often be heard saying, “that is just Glorious!”  It was definitely her favorite expression.  An expression she is probably using right now as she sits next to the Father in heaven.  Debra leaves behind an indelible legacy to her daughter, Hollie, and her two grandchildren, Maxwell, and Stella.
Debra is survived by her spouse, Douglas Biellier; daughter, Hollie Konneman and her husband, Rhett; two grandchildren, Maxwell, and Stella; six siblings, Connie, Donna, Leon, Tim, Terry and Mark and a host of other relatives.  All of these she loved and touched deeply.
She was preceded in death by her son, Aaron Biellier in 1988, her parents, Daisy and Esco Elmer, and her nephew Carson Elmer.
A private family burial will be held at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, 510 East Cherry Street, Mt. Vernon, Missouri 65712.
