John Erwin Borel

Army Colonel John Erwin Borel, passed away July 31, 2020, at Overland Park Regional Hospital in Overland Park, Kan.
Borel was born Sept. 14, 1947, to John and Marie Borel in Kansas City. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., in 1970; was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army and went on active duty in 1970. Borel retired from the Army in 2000.
Borel is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Sharon Jameson Borel; daughters, Angie (Rob) Wild of St. Louis, Cassie (Ricky) Mendez of Oneonta, NY and Kristin (Chris) Springer of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren all of Overland Park, Kan.; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to pay their respects from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020 at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. Services will be outdoors and all are invited to bring a lawn chair. Interment and military honors will follow in the Waldensian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
