Gary Leon Lugar

Gary Leon Lugar, 72, of Monett passed away Sept. 30 while at the Carthage Health and Rehab Center in Carthage.
Lugar was born on Sept. 11, 1948 in Ft. Morgan, Colo., son of the late Alfred Leroy Lugar and Mildred Catherine (Warnick) Lugar.
Growing up in Torrance, Calif., he graduated from North High School in Torrance, class of 1967. He then furthered his education by attending the El Camino Junior College. In 1981, he moved to Monett where he worked for many years for Tyson’s and IDF, retiring in 2009.
He is survived by: brother, Lindell (Jeanette) Lugar of Monett; sister, Mary McNutt, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; nephews, Chad (Abby) Lugar of Republic and Paul Kingrey, of Tulsa, Okla.; and niece, Jami Lugar, of Ozark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Lindell and Harriette Warnick and Marion and Edith Lugar; and brother-in-law, Gerald McNutt.
Graveside services were held Oct. 3 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Memorials can be given to the Haven of the Ozarks in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
