Lawrence Lee “Larry” Carl

Lawrence Lee “Larry” Carl, age 68, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 5:46 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri., from Covid 19.  He was born November 7, 1951, in Monett, Missouri, the son of Eugene and Lucille (Echols) Carl.  An early Ozark snowstorm delayed his arrival resulting in lifelong complications from cerebral palsy.
Despite this handicap, Larry was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and received two degrees, one in History and one in Art from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.
Larry’s specialty was painting watercolors and many of his rural scenes are present in homes of his friends.  As his physical skills declined, he would paint for months to supply his paintings for Christmas gifts.
Larry had an uncanny ability to remember historical dates and events and was the family history expert.
Larry’s life was enhanced by many friends, especially Rosie Hubert, a longtime aide, and the wonderful Cowherd family, who appreciated his talents and assisted him greatly.
Larry is survived by his brother, Hardy (Lynn) Carl of Mt. Vernon; eight cousins, Sarah Woodard, Paulette Mobley, Edson Carl, Bruce Carl, Jeannie Montgomery, Cathy Montgomery, Susan Carl and Mark Carl and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lucille and his sister, Martha Carl Paul-Morgan.
A family graveside service will be scheduled for a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon.
Memorial donations may be made payable to Lawrence County Historical Society, in care of the funeral home.
Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
