Dorothy May Bardwell Roll

Dorothy May Bardwell Roll, 100, of Springfield, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, in Springfield Rehab & Healthcare facility from a long illness.
She was married in 1948 to Billy Roll who preceded her in death in February 2000. Roll was an executive secretary most of her life having worked for the Veterans Administration, IRS, Department of Commerce and 17 years at Carroll Electric in Berryville, Ark.
During WWII Roll worked for Cessna and Beechcraft Aircraft Manufacturers building the Bobcat T-37 airplane for the US Air Force and was known as a “Rosie Riveter”.
Roll is survived by her daughter Cheryl Roll Walton of Springfield, son Darrel (Carol) of Mt. Vernon, one grandson and one great-granddaughter; sister-in-law Carole Bardwell, of Surprise, Ariz., two nieces and five nephews.
Funeral service were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield. Burial was at 1 p.m. on Thursday in Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Kan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
