Mary A. Goethe

Mary A. Goethe, 71, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin. She was born May 12, 1950, in Merced, Calif., the daughter of Paul and Velta (Bolinger) Douthit.
Goethe was a 1968 graduate of Merced High School, in Merced, Calif. and worked in housekeeping at the Super 8 Motel in Mt. Vernon.
On Aug. 1, 1990, she married Donald Lewis Goethe, in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2017.
Goethe is survived by three sisters, Paulette Rogers, of Mt. Vernon, Linda Peer of Merced, California, and Sally Brown of Atwater, Calif.; three brothers, David Douthit (Diane), of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Phillip Douthit of Merced, Calif. and Sam Douthit (Sue), of Merced, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
Goethe was preceded in death by her parents, Paul, and Velta; husband, Donald, and brother, Joseph Douthit.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.
