Reginald "Reggie/Reg" Murray

Reginald “Reggie/Reg” Murray, 76, of Pierce City, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 after a difficult battle with dementia.
Murray was born on Thursday, April 5, 1945 to June Fisher in Connersville, Ind. He was later adopted by Wayne Murray following Wayne and June’s marriage. He was the oldest of four brothers. After graduating from Wayne High School in 1963, he went on to study model making at Pennsylvania Military College.
After graduation, he landed his first job as a model maker and machinist for General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, where he worked until retirement.
Later in life, he met Bonnie (Sanders) Short, and they wed on Aug. 10, 1985 in Athens, Tenn., sharing four children from previous marriages.
In 2000, following retirement, Bonnie and Murray moved to Pierce City. Upon moving to Pierce City, he was hired as a bus driver for Pierce City Schools. He spent the next 17 years driving kids to school and sporting events. In 2017, he retired to care for Bonnie during her battle with cancer.
Murray was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, brother Ted, and parents Wayne and June.
He is survived by his two brothers, Fred and Don, his four children, Sami, Tami, Dawn and Wayne, and three grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022 Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
