Marion Paulette Wright

Marion Paulette Wright, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born May 9, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, the second child and daughter of the late Paul T. Jr., and Winifred (Jones) Beisser.
Marion was a 1970 graduate of Parkway Central High School in St. Louis, Missouri and was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Marion began her nursing career while living in Saint Louis, and after relocating to Mt. Vernon, continued this at the Lawrence County Manor. She later accepted employment at the Missouri State Chest Hospital, beginning in the dietary department before soon transferring into nursing. In 1985 when the Missouri Veterans Home was established in a wing of the State hospital in Mt. Vernon, she transferred to this agency and dedicated her time and talents to caring for the women and men of the Show-Me state who served their nation. In May 2003 she received the Stella Parish Lifetime Achievement award from the National Association of Geriatric Nursing Assistants for outstanding performance in her field. After the Veterans’ Home moved into its own facility in Mount Vernon, she concluded her nursing career and transferred to the laundry department. On June 1, 2015, she retired after 34 ½ years of dedicated service to the State of Missouri and its citizens.
Marion was a member of Saint Susanne Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon where she served stints on the parish council and was involved with the Parish Council of Catholic Women, in addition to assisting with coordination of the Saturday evening Mass she faithfully attended. For many years, but especially after retiring, she was deeply devoted to the work of St. Susanne’s Food Pantry, spending the bulk of her time and energy in answering the call of Jesus Christ to give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, and welcome to the stranger in need. She also regularly volunteered at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center Museum in Mt. Vernon.
Marion was an avid reader who always had a book close at hand, loved walking and jogging the streets of town, praying the Rosary, and spending time with her three grandchildren. Regardless of the activity, she could be seen doing it with a smile on her face that reflected the joy her soul felt as she journeyed through life with her Lord. She was a devoted wife and mother who lived life with simplicity and strength.
On September 16, 1978, she married Donnie Wright in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Donnie; one son, Donald Cecil (D.C.) Wright and his wife, Amy, of Springfield; three grandchildren, Quentin, Madison and Carsten Wright; two sisters, Louisa “Dudy” Harris of Troy, Missouri and Margaret “Bird” Fox and her husband, Steve, of Lampe, Missouri; three brothers, Lt. Col. Paul T. Beisser III and his wife, Connie, of Dubois, Wyoming, Chris Beisser and his wife, Martha, of Overland Park, Kansas, and James Richard “Ricky” Beisser and his wife Dora of Branson, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Charlie Meeks of Perryville, Missouri, one brother-in-law, Ronnie Wright of Mt. Vernon,  a very dear cousin Jan Johnson and her husband Jim of Muskegon, Michigan and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral Mass under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Susanne Catholic Church with Father Chori Seraiah celebrating. Burial will be at a later date at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri. Rosary will be held from 6:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, with visitation to follow from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the St. Susanne Food Pantry, in care of the funeral home.
