LEONARD “GUS” JOSEPH FENSKE

Leonard “Gus” Joseph Fenske, 90, of Pierce City passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He was born in Wentworth on Thursday, Aug. 2, 1934; the son of August and Mary Radke Fenske.
He graduated from Pierce City High School and served his country in the Army.
He married Lucy “Naomi” Montgomery on Saturday, April 25, 1964,at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Kennett. He was a lifetime Pierce City Eagle and faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. 
He had many roles serving his community including time at the Sarajo Garment Factory, traveling fruit inspector, ornamental iron business owner and operator, caretaker of St. Mary’s Church and School as well as caring for the Pierce City Senior Citizens Center. He drove R-6 #2 school bus “The Gus Bus” around Pulaskifield.
He is survived by his stepson, Douglas Michael Stoker of Monett; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Mary Ann Osterloh; two nephews; and many cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi Fenske; a stepson, Jimmie Glenn Stoker; and two brothers, Bill Fenske and Wilbert Fenske.
Funeral Mass was held on Monday, June 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating.  Burial, with full military honors, followed  at St, Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City.
Arrangements were entrusted to the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home  in Pierce City.
