Garry Dean Owens

Garry Dean Owens, 80 of Monett, passed away on June 10, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Aug. 12, 1945 in Aurora to Virgil and Faye (Freisner) Owens. He was the 12th of 12 children. He graduated Aurora High School in 1963.

He was a real estate agent, owner of the Trails Inn Motel in Eureka Springs for several years and worked in Management. He attended Full Life Fellowship Church in Purdy.

Survivors include his longtime friend, Kevin Stump,; two sisters, Juanita Haley of Verona and Shirley Sue Burbank of Topeka, Kan.; 

Gary was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Virgil Owens and Faye (Freisner) Owens; six brothers, Ilo, Glen, Dale, Everett, Art and Albert Owens; three sisters, Anna Mae Snider, Lucille McNeill and Bertha Newton; four nephews, Larry Wayne Snider, Jim Bray, Jerry Schram and Greg Owens; four nieces, Lanita Snider, Deborah (Newton) Medlin, Kenda (Haley) Seitz and Sherry (Haley) Bass.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
