HAROLD LEE CORWIN

 
Harold Lee Corwin, of Miller, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon. He fought a hard battle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
He was born to Carl and Mary (Jones) Corwin in Miller on July 16, 1945. He attended Miller High School with the Class of 1963. On July 12, 1965, heproudly joined the United States Army and went on to serve his country in Korea.
He was a member of Chesapeake Baptist Church, the Miller Lions Club, and the American Legion.
On Sept. 5, 1968, he married the love of his life, Doris (Carter) Mason. Doris brought two children into their marriage, Theresa Ann Mason and Robert Stanley Mason. Together, Harold and Doris welcomed their daughter, Tina Michelle Corwin. They were married 36 years.
He began his working life as an over-the-road truck driver. His CB handle was “Grease Monkey,” while Doris was known as the “Check Out Lady.” The two later owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Miller. He also drove a school bus for Miller R-II Schools. Later, they owned and operated Harold’s Wrecker Service & Garage. He went to work for Dale Blevins as the head mechanic for Blevins Asphalt. 
He later married Charlotte Johnson of Urbana. She preceded him in death in 2020. Her son, Jimmy, survives.
He continued working with his daughter and son-in-law at Hills Automotive until dementia eventually prevented him from working. 
He is survived by his daughter, Tina, and her husband, Jay Hill, of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. His brother, Raymond Corwin and wife, Nilajo of Springfield and sister-in-law, Sharon Corwin of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Corwin; the love of his life, Doris Corwin; his second wife, Charlotte Corwin; three sisters, infant Geraldine Corwin, Faye Morris, and Fern Heard; two brothers, Vincel Corwin and Donald Corwin; his great-grandson, Landon Boggs; sister-in-law, Sugg Corwin and brothers-in-law, Harold Morris and James Heard.
A funeral service was held at on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller, with a burial to follow at the Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held from on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, in the funeral home chapel.
