Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be focusing on repairs through April. Crews started working to address the pesky potholes as soon as there was a break in the weather. MoDOT will have about 300 pothole patching crews statewide working to make roadways safer.

On April 2, Mt. Vernon residents will go to the polls and decide whether to pass Proposition Mt’neer Strong; a $10-million loan that the district would take out to pay for several improvements to its facilities.

A new Dollar General store could come to Halltown sometime in the not too distant future. The national retail chain is considering putting a location in the town at the southeast corner of Highway 266 and North Dogwood Drive (Highway Z).

On Friday March 15, 2019 a fatal incident occurred on County Road 2140, three miles north of Freistatt when a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Grant Jester, 28, of Stotts City struck a pedestrian who was walking in the traffic lane. The pedestrian was Corey Jones, 37, of Monett.

Missouri residents who are about to renew their driver’s licenses or non-driver identification cards may apply for a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or identification card beginning on Monday, March 25.
