Holiday Central’s fundraising and collection period is in full swing. The timeframe to submit an application has passed with record numbers applying this year. During the month of November, Holiday Central is collecting donations throughout Mt. Vernon.

Phil Dixon, an expert on the Negro Baseball League and it's connections to the Ozarks, will hold a book signing at Summit City Bistro from 1:30-3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4. This event will kickoff the grand opening of the Traveling Smithsonion Exhibit-Hometown Teams.

The City of Miller has regained its Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) certification. Mayor Stacy Daniels announced the city had regained its certification during the Miller Board of Aldermen meeting during her report on Thursday, Nov. 8.

In its sixth year, the Mt. Vernon Turkey Strut drew in 285 participants, not including pets, to the Mt. Vernon square Thanksgiving morning. Proceeds from
the fundraiser will go to Emergency Services for Children and Families in Recovery.
